If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be a stand-up comic but the idea of telling jokes to a roomful of strangers fills you with fear, a new course being run by 2k Tiger together with Maria Kempinska MBE, the queen of the comedy clubs, will help you become a better public speaker by mastering the art of stand-up techniques.
Maria is the founder and owner of the iconic Jongleurs Comedy Clubs. She first learned how to do stand-up in front of a crowd of 200 people and discovered that fear breeds creativity and energy. Maria believes in the power of humour to overcome nerves and stress – humour makes for great communication. She says, “When you overcome all the obstacles to presenting on stage as a stand-up, your mental approach to public speaking changes forever”.
Adopt the techniques used by stand-ups for improved public speaking
By adopting the techniques used by stand-ups, you will massively improve your public speaking and presentation skills – essential for anyone in business, whether you’re addressing a small team or a room full of conference delegates, and for anyone who has to speak at big occasions such as weddings.
It is well-known that comedy and humour have a positive impact on mental health and wellbeing – laughter is a natural remedy for stress. So, by learning to use humour effectively you will be benefiting your own mental health and that of your audience too.
